  • Graduation Ceremony Update: July 7, 2020

Governor Whitmer provided an update on the State of Michigan’s response efforts to COVID-19. Currently our county is in Phase 4 of the MI Safe Start Plan. Under Phase 4 outdoor social gatherings and organized events are allowed if people maintain six feet of distance from one another and the gathering consists of no more than 100 people.

In order to comply with the Executive Order, Pittsford Area Schools will be holding 2 separate commencement ceremonies on July 12, 2020. The venues will be held outdoors on the track and will be streamed on the district’s Facebook page.

The ceremony for students whose last name begins with A-J will take place at 11:00 a.m.

The ceremony for students whose last name begins with K-Z will take place at 1:00 p.m.

Family members may bring lawn chairs. Social distancing will be required at all times. We will keep you updated should any changes occur before July 12th

Rehearsal for graduates will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate through these unprecedented times.

  • Dear Parent or Guardians:

As we conclude what has been a rewarding, yet unprecedented school year, I want to thank you for your partnership in the journey we have gone through together!  In my twenty-five years in education I cannot remember a time where parents had to juggle so many responsibilities with their families, including taking on an educational role at times!  Thank you for all that you have done and thank you for your patience as we navigated the waters of remote learning.

So where do we go from here?  We obviously don’t know the scenario we will be faced with in the Fall of 2020, but please know this: we will provide a quality education for your child no matter what your preference, no matter what the guidelines, no matter the situation!  While we prefer to begin the school year 100% in person, we know that we must have a robust customized remote learning plan should you, the parent, prefer it or should the circumstances require it.

A plan that resembles what we teach in person and when we teach it so that kids have a similar experience in either delivery model.  One that provides a great deal of student-teacher interaction and support, and one that allows the parent to return to being the parent and the school re-assuming the major role of educating every student.

We have teams working on our in person re-entry to school and remote learning instruction. In addition, we are preparing for facilities that are safer than at any previous time.  We will be ready to begin next August 19, 2020.

A survey will be sent out following this letter that will provide Pittsford Area Schools and our county with some very important information regarding both the experience your student(s) have just completed and what you are thinking at this point in time in regards to the Fall of 2020 learning preferences for your child.  Please know this survey is confidential.  The data will provide good information as we plan to meet your needs for next school year.

Things appear to be changing rapidly with each week that passes.  I assure you that we will be ready to provide the top-notch education you have come to expect from Pittsford Area Schools.

Again, thank you for your continued partnership.  We look forward to an exceptional 2020-2021 school year!

Below is a letter from the Hillsdale ISD and an opportunity to take their survey regarding the 2020-21 school year

Hillsdale County School Re-entry Parents Survey Spring 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented moment in our history, including students and schools. Almost overnight schools have had to revamp their entire instructional delivery model. The purpose of this countywide survey is to not only understand the impact the pandemic has had on students’ experiences, but also how to best serve students moving forward.

Please fill out the survey for ONLY ONE child attending a Hillsdale County School. If you would like to complete the survey for any of your other children, you may do so by completing the survey again. To note, the information collected is anonymous. After question number 2 you may skip any question you do not wish to answer.

The survey should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Thank you for your time and input.
The survey will close on June 29th 5 pm.

Hillsdale County ISD Superintendent Troy Reehl and your local school Superintendents

A Letter From the Superintendent to Parents/Guardians/Students

Thank you for your ongoing patience, and for the many ways in which our community continues to come together in support of our students, our teachers, and our schools as we navigate new territory, and for the ways in which our community has rallied to support those in need, and those on the front lines of addressing the public health crisis. Our thoughts also remain with everyone personally impacted by loss of loved ones, as COVID-19 takes its toll on our community. We are likewise mindful of the fact that we are all grieving “normalcy” along with our won unique losses during this time.

Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-35 (COVID-19), a comprehensive order that effectively closes all K-12 Michigan schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Pittsford Area Schools remains vigilant in monitoring the ongoing guidance provided by the state and local health and education officials, and in sharing timely and accurate information as it becomes available.

Pittsford Area Schools has launched the Pittsford Area Schools Continuity of Learning Plan, which will begin on Monday, April 20, 2020. Thank you for your partnership as we work together with our students, staff, families and community to promote the learning, safety, health and well-being of all. (please click the link to the Continuity of Learning Plan above to learn more.

     Take care and be well,

    Deanna Edens, Superintendent

As a result of COVID-19 and the closing of school buildings for the 2019-2020 School Year, school districts must submit a Continuity of Learning and COVID-19 Response Plan (“Plan”) in order to continue to receive state aid for operations. Although schools are closed and not providing in-person instruction, teaching and learning must continue. Michigan educators have been called to provide our students with continued learning. Please check the link above to read our plan.
